Niver Creek Tributary M Drainage Improvements & Trail

Stormwater

Project Overview

Niver Creek Tributary M, which crosses Huron St. between W. Thornton Parkway and W. 88th Ave, is a 2-mile long riverine system draining just over one square mile of developed land and is 56% impervious. This flood risk mitigation project was brought about due to past flooding events and newly identified hazards to private property discovered in the 2016 flood hazard mapping. To solve these issues, ICON designed improvements to the upstream surface flow capture, channel improvements to engage the west overbank, and a safe pedestrian underpass with trail connectivity for Huron Street.

Project Outcomes
  • 2 miles of channel improvements
  • Safe pedestrian underpass with trail connectivity
  • Native landscape design for sustainability
